The Engineering Council works closely with the Royal Academy of Engineering, and has co-authored a Statement of Ethical Principles for professional engineers, and submitted joint evidence, along with the Engineering and Technology Board to the 2009 government inquiry into engineering.

As Britain's national academy for engineering, the Royal Academy of Engineering "brings together the country's most eminent engineers from all disciplines to promote excellence in the science, art and practice of engineering."
